Gorons have long since left their traditional dwelling, disguising themselves as Traveling Merchants. There is a level in Battle Quest that is called the Death Mountain Climb. It is believed that Dragon Roost Island, an island in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, is Death Mountain. There is a lake on the east end of Death Mountain which flows into a Waterfall, which in turns flows into a river that runs into Lake Hylia.

The Links go through Death Mountain as the third stage of the game, where they battle Gouen to find the last Great Fairy, the Great Fairy of Flame, and get the last Key needed.

The mountain itself seems to be active in different ways, as there are now lots of small craters that emit a hot steam that can harm Link. In this game there are three dungeons that can be found on Death Mountain: Turtle Rock and Ganon's Tower in the Dark World and Tower of Hera in the Light World. As an active volcano, the burning air can lead to spontaneous combustion if Link is unprotected. It is also widely believed that Eldin Volcano from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was later renamed Death Mountain, as it is the only mountainous area in the land that would eventually be known as Hyrule.

Its inhabitants are often Gorons, but Ganon has had his lair in Death Mountain also. There is a Lost Old Man living on Death Mountain as well. The Death Mountain trails are only passable with the help of the other Gorons, being this is the only way to get to the very top of the mountain. Earlier on when traversing up Death Mountain, Link witnesses a large piece of volcanic rock erupting from the mountain. At first, the Gorons are hostile with the Hylians if they try to go up the trail. When Link enters the Hyrule Death Mountain, there will be falling rocks across the mountain due to a volcano eruption. Inside the mountain itself is found Gannon's stronghold, Level 9, which can be accessed by bombing a portion of Spectacle Rock in extreme northwest Hyrule.

The Bouldering Guy can be found here after Link has retrieved the Message in a Bottle. If Link attempts to go up, the Gorons roll viciously at Link knocking him down.



Main article: Death Mountain (The Adventure of Link) In The Adventure of Link, Death Mountain is found in the south-east of Western Hyrule, south of the Water Town of Saria only after showing Bagu's note to the River Man. In Breath of the Wild, Death Mountain is located in the Eldin province in northwestern Hyrule, and Goron City can be found nearby in Eldin Canyon.
The volcano itself is not as violent as the Death Mountain seen in Ocarina of Time; however, the volcano does erupt during the early stages of the game. Death Mountain erupts until Fyrus is defeated.

Directly outside the entrance to the Death Mountain Crater is the humongous Goron Biggoron, a master sword-smith who plays a part in the trading quest for Biggoron's Sword, the most powerful sword in the game. There is a lake on the east end of Death Mountain which flows into a Waterfall, which in turns flows into a river that runs into Lake Hylia.
